We receive many comments on who has, or how, we have searched for Randy.
For those that did not attend, or see the rally video to hear this information, we thought we would share the summary of search efforts over the past 34 years.
Harold and Alberta started looking for Randy on day one. They hired private investigators within the first two months to help them search for Randy.
Harold and Alberta traveled nationwide to follow-up on every lead and tip they received. They knew Randy liked Colorado, so they made trips posting flyers the length of I-70 across Kansas and Colorado.
They traveled to Chicago to appear on a national TV show with a psychic who claimed to know about Randy.
There were rumors of Randy’s body being seen in a cave, Harold went into the caves himself, and investigated on his own.
Harold and Alberta have conducted flyovers. In 1988, Harold knew a man who had a small plane and the two of them flew over the Linwood area looking for Randy’s car.
In the early ‘90’s they had sonar completed in several locations. Harold enlisted the help of someone with a boat and sonar and they searched Stranger Creek at the Linwood Bridge to look for the car. (Yes, in the early '90's).
Harold enlisted another person with a boat and sonar that was used in Elephant Walk Lake, now known as Bear Lake, located in Bonner Springs, Kansas to search for the car.
Also, in the early ‘90’s, Harold and a friend used an airboat up and down the Kansas River in search of Randy’s car.
Over the years there have been two searches in which cadaver dogs with handlers that were law enforcement officers from outside of Kansas, cleared nearly 3 dozen locations where Randy was rumored to be. Just earlier this year, dog handlers, also law enforcement from outside the state of Kansas came with their three cadaver dogs and searched many locations. During the days they were here, they parked their truck and camper at Alberta's house and the cadaver dogs roamed about the property.
Eight years ago, Gene and Sandy Ralston of Idaho, who have located more than 100 drowning victims over the past 20-years, attempted to use their sonar equipment and their underwater camera in the Kansas River. The extreme cold weather prevented that search from being done.
Professional geophysicists with magnetometers, ground penetrating radar, and sub-bottom profilers have worked the river and on land. Many hours have been spent mapping and gridding the river with professional searches.
Harold and Alberta and their friends have traversed acres of land area, dug in areas where human remains were presumed to exist, and crawled down steep banks with a boat on their back. They have recruited the help of divers from neighboring jurisdictions to dive the Kansas River.
Friends of Harold and Alberta used sonar on the Kansas River many, many times. When anomalies were discovered with the use of a magnetometer, there were many trips up and down the river by boat using sonar. These searches using the boat with sonar on the Kansas River went on for years.
These were just a few of the many searches over the years until a couple of years ago, when their friends contacted Adventures with Purpose who cleared over a dozen areas.
Since then, there have been more cadaver dog investigations and land surveys based on incoming tips,. Over the years, Harold and Alberta have spoken with several psychics.
Throughout the past 34 years, there have been endless searches for Randy, not just the past two years. The searches began the day Randy did not return home.
The searches have never ceased.

Adventures With Purpose - Update
Aug 24, 2021
Apparently there needs to be clarification on Jared's decision not to return to Linwood to conduct additional searches for Randy. While in fact, Jared has spent considerable time here, and has searched many areas of interest, his decision is based on a broader aspect of his business, not solely Randy's case.
"We've had a lot of strange happenings and even some threats in a few cases this past year that our team has made the tough decision to step away from ALL missing person cases where foul play might be involved.
While I'd love to help Alberta and all families in need, we do have to consider our family's safety, well-being, and comfort." (shared from Jared's email)

Jared, Sam, Dan, and Kyler
We sincerely thank you for your time spent with Harold and Alberta in Oct 2020 and then on your return trip in Jan 2021.
Your concern for searching for Randy will be forever cherished and your love for Alberta and Harold is truly endearing. With Alberta's good cooking and the warmth of Harold and Alberta's home, we had some wonderful moments of sharing as well as the moments of sharing 'off camera'.
What special memories.
In Harold's final days, he was given a very wonderful gift of hope. Jared, we will always appreciate your amazing determination in fulfilling the concerns of Harold's wishes and searching areas that he asked of you.
Many sites were searched and investigated and while some areas were considered 'cleared', there were other areas of concern left to be revisited at some point.
With sadness, but also with understanding, we wish to inform our followers that Jared and his wonderful crew will not be returning to pursue additional searches in the Linwood area.
Jared's focus will be working with families of missing persons throughout the country.
We wish Jared and Sam, Dan, and Kyler much continued success.
Visit our page, Adventures With Purpose for photos of Jared's visits.

July 25, 1970 Randy Leach came into this world at only 4 lbs.
He grew into a strong, handsome young man who was looking at the future with hope and excitement that all teenagers have without any doubt that the world was compassionate and decent and kind. But at 17 years old, he vanished. This world of Randy's vanished, and the world of Harold and Alberta's changed overnight. On his birthday tomorrow he would have turned 50 years old. They still wait for him to come back home and they will never give up searching for him.

Loving Tribute
Following is a little insight into the life of Harold and Alberta Leach and what they have endured over the years. This is in honor of Harold.
On the evening of April 15 Randy gave his mom a kiss goodbye in the kitchen and then headed outside to the driveway to tell his dad goodbye. When Randy headed down the road in his mom’s car and drove out of sight, Harold did not know that Randy was driving out of their lives forever.
But as the days quickly and painfully passed, Harold and Alberta soon realized they were the ones to search for their only child. Harold devoted his life to searching for his boy. And he never gave up.
It made no difference what kind of lead he and Alberta received, whether a sighting of a young man in southern Kansas, or even a lead of a possible sighting in Idaho, they went to find him.
Whether it was a grave someone had seen years previous, Harold and Alberta would find it, and dig. Whether it was a rumor that someone had information about blood stains in an abandoned house, he found it. Whether someone said they had information about Randy, Harold found them. He never gave up. Harold persisted day in and day out and led the search that only a heartbroken Dad could do. Harold was a man of honor and pride and love for his family. He never gave up searching for his son and he did this out of love for his family.
Harold was a man of integrity and strength in every sense. Harold is a man that we will honor forever.
